Such Heritage Areas are rare, there being only 17 in South Australia to date. Mount Torrens is the only State Heritage Area within the Adelaide Hills Council District. They continue to promote the town\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sacommunity.org\/org\/237094-Mount_Torrens_History_Centre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history and heritage<\/a>. There was little motive for knocking old buildings down and replacing them with something new. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This has been the story of Mount Torrens.
